Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare

Reimagine streamlined and intelligent citizen focused services.

Reimagine streamlined and intelligent citizen focused services.

Public services are under pressure. Organisations who deliver public services are facing resource constraints, increasing demands and diverging needs.

KPMG help organisations face that challenge. We work across central and local government, healthcare, education, housing, defence, police and infrastructure – as well as the private and charity sector – to help clients find better ways of working.

Our team of almost 1,000 professionals operates with one goal: making meaningful change and putting citizens at the heart of that change. Team members working across tax, audit and advisory range from former NHS board members to CFO’s of major public sector bodies. Joined with KPMG’s 152 network of member firms across the globe, we help deliver tailor-made approaches in areas including:

Devolution: Designing and delivering integrated public services by geographies – for public and private sector.

Skills & Productivity: Building capability and skills for a post Brexit industrial strategy for public services and local economies.

Economic Growth: Driving local economic growth fuelled by transport and infrastructure financing and delivery.

Business Led Digitally Enabled Transformation: Designing and delivering nationally funded/commissioned social policy reform programmes, implemented locally, enabled by data, digital and technology.

Examples of our work

  1. We helped a nationwide public body save almost £250 million by identifying inefficient sites in its estate, freeing up capital to use on important alternative projects.
  2. The ‘lean’ management performance programme we implemented in one foundation trust helped cut the numbers of patients suffering falls by 30%. The initiative attracted significant interest from hospitals around the country.
  3. Advising Transport for London on two of its major capital projects – the business case for Crossrail 2 and the procurement of Silvertown Tunnel. We are also supporting London Underground on its Maintenance Modernisation programme to optimise efficiency across its business.
  4. Provided support to DFT and HS2 Ltd on developing the Strategic, Economic and Financial Cases for HS2 – the UK’s largest ever infrastructure project.
  5. Through the Reimagine Challenge initiative, supporting and initiating innovation in government. Providing an environment that enables civil servants from across government to work together in new ways, accelerating the development of impactful new ideas and policies.
