Grant is a Partner in KPMG’s transfer pricing team and is a specialist in the implementation of tax-effective business models for multinational companies. He has 18 years experience as a transfer pricing specialist with KPMG working both in the UK and China.
In the last 10 years a particular focus of Grant’s has been on developing an integrated tax, commercial and operational approach to transformation projects. This is reflected in the nature of many of his recent projects, which are typically large cross-border projects implementing new supply chain structures and the associated tax aspects for large multinationals.
Grant’s clients span the full range but he has particular expertise in retail, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and digital. His recent projects include:
- Implementing, and defending under tax authority audit, a global principal trading model, for a travel and tourism company.
- Developing a transfer pricing documentation model and process for country by country reporting for a global group with in excess of 600 trading entities.
- Leading a multi-country transformation for a UK based consumer brand business. This included a major supply chain reorganisation through the establishment of a European principal company, and limited risk distributors across the rest of Europe, and overhauling trading flows with the US and the Far East.
- Post implementation review of a number of centralised value chain models including mock tax authority audits, analysis of substance and model re-design following business changes.
Grant is a regular lecturer at Manchester University Business School and Salford University where he lectures on international tax and supply chain tax issues. He also worked in Shanghai where he was seconded to KPMG’s Chinese transfer pricing team to assist in developing their transfer pricing offering.
