On Thursday, 24 June our webinar “Launching your automation journey with Power Automate” took place.

During this webinar, our KPMG experts provided insights on:

Our vision on Intelligent Automation

  • Horizontal scaling via people is constrained due to the law of diminishing returns. Intelligent automation allows organizations to scale vertically, making the cost of scaling virtually irrelevant.
  • Instead of swapping out human tasks for automated procedures, take a step back and reengineer the process first for maximum efficiency.
  • Always keep the value case in mind. Prioritize your automation pipeline through quantitative and qualitative measures that matter most to your organization.
  • A good idea only reaches benefits when it is put in practice. Start small and focalised before gradually increasing the scope of your initiatives.

Client Power Automate Use Cases

  • Every use case and client environment is different and requires a best-fit solution. Make the technology fit the use case instead of the use case fit the technology.
  • Focus doesn’t necessarily have to be on end-to-end automation. Even targeting a limited subprocess can already bring significant tangible results.
  • Bring in organizational tacit knowledge to realise workflow optimization that not only work on paper.
  • Client involvement during analysis & implementation is key. The client should be the main advocate for applying automation to the greater benefit of the organization.

Live Demo

  • In our demo we showcased how to automate a repetitive, labour intensive task. In our use case Adam had to fill in and submit his timesheet to his manager Jane for approval. Once approved, Jane had to manually copy the timesheet information to the organizations ERP system.
  • We showed how Power Apps can be applied to allow Adam to fill in his timesheet from anywhere, anytime using a user friendly app on his phone or laptop.
  • Jane instantaneously receives a notification by email and Microsoft Teams, allowing her to approve/reject the timesheet and add comments without switching applications.
  • We used Power Automate Desktop to automatically integrate with the legacy ERP system, adding the approved timesheet via the front-end of the application.
  • A PowerBI dashboard automatically generated insightful graphs & KPIs on the approved timesheet data.
