Ed is a Partner in KPMG’s Insurance Practice. He serves as the National Sector Leader for Insurance, leading the Firm’s efforts regarding client experience and resources for the insurance practice. He has 28 years of experience serving the insurance industry, both property casualty and life, and has been a partner since 2001.

Ed is a Partner in KPMG’s Insurance Practice. He serves as the National Sector Leader for Insurance, leading the Firm’s efforts regarding client experience and resources for the insurance practice. He has 28 years of experience serving the insurance industry, both property casualty and life, and has been a partner since 2001.

Ed currently serves as the lead audit partner for Nationwide Insurance. Additionally, Ed is an SEC Reviewing Partner, working with engagement teams on filing issues and SEC matters. In addition, he is an IFRS Reviewing Partner, performing concurring reviews for IFRS audits conducted by KPMG’s US Firm.

In addition to his audit responsibilities, Ed provides advisory services to insurance clients, mainly in the form of accounting change services. He has helped lead the Firm’s efforts around the insurance contracts projects of the FASB and IASB. Since 2007, he has been responsible for organizing and delivering informational “Road Shows” on these projects, developing thought leadership pieces, conducting share forums and meeting directly with clients to share views and solicit feedback.

From 2006 to 2008, Ed was part of KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice (“DPP”) in New York. His areas of focus while in the department included insurance, IFRS, compensation & benefits, financial instruments and restatements. While in DPP, Ed represented KPMG at meetings of the AICPA’s Insurance Experts Panel. He was also a member of the AICPA’s Task Force for the implementation of DAC on Internal Replacements (SOP 05-1).

Over the years, Ed has participated in numerous insurance company mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs and initial public offerings, both domestic and international.

Other Activities

Active speaker and panelist on auditing and accounting matters at programs held by various industry organizations, including the International Association of Insurance Supervisors, the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association, the Society of Insurance Financial Management and the American Academy of Actuaries.

Non-profit Boards include the Center of Science and Industry.
