The culture and integrity within an organisation often prove to be the key to success. Culture influences behaviour, employee involvement, innovation and risk awareness and, in doing so, contributes to achieving the strategic objectives of your organisation.

Integrity within organisations is an issue receiving increasing (public) attention. In addition, organisations are becoming more and more explicit in pursuing an honest organisation. This pursuit means that organisations have a growing need to obtain insight into the current integrity level of their organisation and what risks they run. In other words, which issues threaten the integrity of the organisation? Think in this respect, for instance, about risks regarding fraud and corruption, theft, information disclosure, or possible risks as a result of changing circumstances which the organisation is not yet aware of.

Preventing financial and reputational damage due to integrity risks

Practice shows that even minor risks can develop into undesirable situations with significant financial and reputational damage. This damage often has a long-lasting impact on the financial stability of an organization, making prevention necessary. It is, therefore, important to start working proactively and effectively on recognizing the integrity level within your organisation and limit potential integrity risks to an acceptable level. A well thought out way of integrity risk management is of major importance in this respect.

Soft controls revealing the integrity of an organisation

Extensive research performed by KPMG regarding 150 integrity violations within organisations.. reveals there are eight cultural dimensions (also known as soft controls) in regard to an organisational integrity: Clarity, Leading by example, Commitment, Achievability, Transparency, Open to discussion, Accountability and Enforcement. Whenever these characteristics are more present within an organization there is a greater opportunity of obtaining integrity and a smaller chance of integrity violations.

The above mentioned behavioural drivers provide the basis of our services with respect to integrity, culture and risk management.
