Shawn Starkes

With over 30 years of experience, Shawn is an Executive Director at KPMG in Canada’s Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Indirect Tax practice. He specializes in providing indirect tax advisory and dispute resolution services for clients in all industry sectors. His clients include large retailers, manufacturers, financial institutions, and software developers.

Shawn has valuable experience in the involvement in the implementation of goods and services tax, as well as working many years in public practice with large accounting firms. Shawn provides practical, understandable indirect tax planning advice on complex transactions to clients in all industries. In addition, he assists clients with multimillion dollar proposed audit assessments.

Shawn is currently assisting many non-resident clients in understanding and complying with new goods and service, provincial sales tax registration and compliance requirements.
