On 16 April 2021, the Belgian Tax Authorities announced that the VAT filing deadline for March/Q1 2021 is extended. The initial deadline was 20 April 2021.
The new deadlines are as follows:
- for VAT taxpayers filing monthly returns with a right to monthly refund (i.e. starters and VAT taxpayers with a monthly refund license), the deadline is extended to 24 April 2021.
- for other VAT taxpayers (incl. VAT taxpayers filing quarterly returns), the deadline is extended to 3 May 2021.
The deadline for filing the European Sales Listing is not extended and the initial deadline of 20 April 2021 remains applicable.
The payment deadline for March/Q1 2021 is not extended either and remains 20 April 2021. The late payment interest is 0.33 percent per month. This is a temporary reduction of the standard rate of 0.8 percent per month.
