Brett Franklin

Associate Director, Forensic

KPMG in South Africa

Brett started his career as an Analyst Programmer working for the SPAR Group where he was a part of a team that developed the company’s first corporate data warehouse. After three years as a software developer he moved to KPMG as a Forensic Technology Investigator in the Durban office.

In 2003 as a Manager in KPMG, he decided to move to KPMG London where he had the opportunity to work on multinational clients in the US, Asia and across Europe for 3 years.

In 2006 he took up the role of Head of Forensic Technology for Central and Eastern Europe where he serviced clients across the region from Prague and was responsible for the Forensic Technology service team across the 16 CEE countries.

In 2010 he returned to KPMG in Durban where he is currently responsible for the Forensic Technology service line in KZN as an Associate Director.

Brett presents Forensic Technology training to clients as well as having presented to the London Institute of Chartered Accountants on data analytics within the audit environment.  He is a member of the AFCE and has presented on Fraud Detection using Data Analytics at their annual conference in South Africa.

Brett has had thought leadership content published on the field of Forensic Technology and shares his knowledge through training courses delivered to private and government institutions.
