KPMG combines cyber security, data management and industry experience with Microsoft’s technology to help clients improve their business protection.
KPMG International announces the release of a new security offering with Microsoft Azure Sentinel to improve cyber defense capabilities for organizations. The solution has been designed to help businesses improve their security monitoring and incident response capabilities by combining KPMG's cyber security, incident response and industry experience with Microsoft's advanced cyber security technologies. KPMG* can help organizations determine the security operations ecosystem that best fits their business requirements and design a security operations transformation program to help meet these requirements. As part of this transformation program, KPMG supports organizations in integrating Azure Sentinel in their processes and procedures, and can provide custom playbooks or machine learning models to fit their specific needs. The solution expands KPMG's portfolio of cyber security collaborations with Microsoft, including the data governance, cloud cyber defense, and security maturity assessment offerings.
“By combining the in-depth security knowledge and expertise of KPMG professionals with Microsoft Azure Sentinel, KPMG firms can enable clients to increase the security of their organizations, in their complex and continuously changing ecosystems,” said Tony Buffomante, Global Cyber Security Services Co-Leader, KPMG International, along with Akhilesh Tuteja. “Decision-makers can't afford to be held back by cyber risks. They need to make bold decisions and feel confident that their cyber strategy, defenses and recovery capabilities will protect their business and support their growth strategies. Investing in their cyber defense capabilities is key to enable this.”
The attack surface for organizations is growing, as the volume of digital data collected continues to increase. This leads to complexity for organizations in operating and securing their cloud environments, and remaining in control of security monitoring. To enable organizations to stay in control, Microsoft has developed Azure Sentinel. Azure Sentinel is a cloud-native security information and event manager (SIEM) platform that uses built-in artificial intelligence (AI) to help analyze large volumes of data across an enterprise quickly, and can connect to data from numerous sources.
“We have a responsibility to bring new security and compliance capabilities to our customers," said Ann Johnson, Corporate Vice President, Cybersecurity Solutions Group, Microsoft. “KPMG's strengths in cyber defense help enable our customers to reduce security risks and maintain control over their data.”
The previously released data governance program has been enhanced, and is now focused on data governance capabilities throughout the full lifecycle of data. Starting with design and implementation of conditional access, organizations can gain control on who can access what data, and under what conditions. Following this, KPMG helps organizations design and implement data classification, both on-premises using Azure Information Protection, and in the cloud using cloud app security. In addition, KPMG enables organizations to remain in control of their data in the cloud, by addressing shadow IT using Cloud App Security. The results of this joint offering can help clients manage their data in a way that combines KPMG's cyber security, data management and industry experience with Microsoft's technology.
In addition to these new and enhanced service offerings, KPMG works with Microsoft to offer a cyber maturity assessment to help companies identify their current cyber maturity posture, making use of the security check as part of Microsoft's technology.
