KPMG today underlines its intent to be a world leader in digital and technology transformation by announcing that Mike Stone, formerly Chief Digital and Information Officer for the UK Ministry of Defence, is joining as Global Head of Government Technology Transformation.

Mike Stone brings over 30 years of experience in the UK and worldwide resolving highly complex challenges in the technology and telecommunications arena in both the public and private sectors. Most recently he served in the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence (MOD) as the Chief Digital and Information Officer. He is well known internationally for the ‘Defence as a Platform’ transformation portfolio and was responsible for the delivery and transformation of all the communication, information systems and services used by UK Defence Forces globally. Mike also has extensive experience working in the private sectors in both the UK and globally in senior technology and transformation roles.

Before his government service and corporate career, Mike served as an Officer in the British Army and was commissioned into the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, an Infantry Regiment, in 1976.  He retired from the military in 2002 in the rank of Brigadier and, in his final posting, Mike served as the British Army’s Chief Information Officer.

Mike attended the Royal Military Academy and earned his MSc in Design of Information Systems from Cranfield University. In addition to his undergraduate degree Mike also holds a MBA from The Open University.
