The Brazilian authorities published an inter-ministerial decree¹ on March 3, 2022, that officially grants the humanitarian visa to Ukrainians and stateless persons (people without recognized nationality) affected or displaced by the situation of armed conflict in Ukraine. This visa will allow a two-year residence permit in Brazil.

Ukrainian citizens and stateless persons may apply for this visa at any Brazilian consulate.

WHY THIS MATTERS

This measure is related to the humanitarian relief given to affected Ukrainian people, especially those who have moved to other locations to avoid the armed conflict with Russia.

This new type of visa will enable smoother immigration procedures for Ukrainian nationals and stateless persons affected or displaced by the situation of armed conflict in Ukraine that are considering Brazil as a possible destination.

More Details

Those who intend to apply for this visa must present a list of required documents, such as:

  • a valid passport;
  • flight tickets or any other means of transportation receipt to Brazil;
  • Non-criminal records certificate.

Furthermore, the new policy will be valid until August 31, 2022, and does not rule out the possibility of other measures that may be adopted by the Brazilian government for the protection of Ukrainian nationals and stateless persons residing in Ukraine.
