On February 7, the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia announced on its website that Brazilians can now apply online1 for “Global Entry” (GE), a program that speeds up the processing of low-risk, previously-approved frequent flyers entering the United States.2

The implementation of the GE for Brazilian citizens was coordinated by the U.S. Embassy and U.S. Consulates in Brazil, through U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Civil House, the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Public Security, and of the Economy, as well as Brazil’s Internal Revenue Service and Federal Police.

WHY THIS MATTERS

This program will not only facilitate business trips, but also speed up the visits of many Brazilians to the United States, helping to foster cross-border tourism and business, and introduce efficiencies around Brazil-U.S. cross-border travel.

More Details

The program allows those who have valid travel documents and meet all the requirements – undergoing rigorous background checks and face-to-face interviews – to have easy entry into the U.S., avoiding the regular passport control queue and going directly to automated kiosks, available at more than 75 airports in the country.

All applicants for Global Entry must be aware that:

  • the program does not replace the non-immigrant visa;
  • the USD 100 fee is non-refundable;
  • it will be required to schedule an appointment upon arrival in the U.S. at a global application center; and
  • if approved, membership will be valid for five years.

Travel requirements: All Brazilian Global Entry members must have a valid passport and a valid visa.
