The U.S. House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee have announced hearings concerning tax topics.

  • The Ways and Means Committee on May 9, 2019, will hold a hearing on “Understanding the Tax Gap and Taxpayer Noncompliance.” In connection with this hearing, the Joint Committee on Taxation prepared a report that provides a standard definition of the tax gap; a description of issues relevant to measurement of the tax gap; and a discussion of taxpayer behavioral responses and the effectiveness of measures to increase compliance.
