Nigeria: Company income tax returns due 30 June

Companies that are calendar-year taxpayers (with a financial year-end of 31 December) must file their company income tax returns with Nigeria’s Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) by 30 June 2018.

There are reports that some FIRS tax offices have indicated that they will not accept hardcopies of company income tax returns because it is expected registered taxpayers would have obtained e-filing access details that would enable them to file their tax returns electronically. However, if the FIRS has not provided e-filing log-in details to a taxpayer (that has duly applied for it) or if the taxpayer can show that it was unable to file the return electronically because of technical issues with the FIRS e-filing portal, the hardcopy of the tax return would be accepted by the FIRS.
