Cayman Islands: AEOI portal accessibility

The Department for International Tax Cooperation of the Cayman Islands on 7 April 2017, announced that the automatic exchange of information (AEOI) portal would remain offline until the beginning of May 2017 and the common reporting standard (CRS) return submission functionality is anticipated to be available to financial institution users at the beginning of June 2017.

Cayman Islands financial institutions required to register in 2017 must do so by 30 June 2017 and financial institutions required to report in 2017 must do so by 31 July 2017.  

The Cayman Islands Tax Information Authority is expected to announce by 19 April 2017 that the due dates for all U.S. FATCA registration and reporting will be moved to match the CRS dates noted above for the 2016 year (30 June registration, 31 July reporting).

An updated version of the AEOI portal user guide will be made available prior to the reopening of the AEOI portal at the beginning of May 2017.
