This GMS Flash Alert reports on the launch in Ireland of an online facility, whereby employment permit applicants can check the status of their applications.
Ireland’s Minister of Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation this week launched an online facility, whereby employment permit applicants can check the status of their applications.1
This change is a significant improvement in respect of the transparency of government administration and the accessibility of information following the submission of employment permit applications.
Previously, to receive a status update, individuals making the applications and their agents were required to enquire through the general call centre or e-mail service, which could result in delays and unsatisfactory responses.
Given the recent back-log in the Employment Permits section, this is a significant development and potentially will be of great benefit to entities that require that expatriate employees be in place – sometimes with minimal delay – to initiate particular projects.
This online enquiry facility is regarded by the Minister of Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation as a significant stepping stone in his commitment to introduce an online application system in 2016.
