Michael van Vuuren is a Partner in KPMG’s Asia-Pacific Actuarial and Insurance Risk Management Advisory practice, based in Hong Kong. With over 16 years of experience in the industry, Michael brings a wealth of international knowledge working with multinationals and large local businesses. He has been a Board level advisor to various international clients on economic capital, embedded value, capital management, risk management, mergers and acquisitions and finance transformation. He has supported numerous firms in implementing the risk based capital and risk management requirements brought in through Solvency II, and has led many projects and assessments that focuses on enhancing risk function effectiveness and linkage to business strategies. Prior to joining KPMG, Michael was an insurance advisory partner within the actuarial practice from EY London. There he led the insurance enterprise risk management services team and was responsible for the EY UK firm’s finance, risk and actuarial client services.
