Maria Consuelo Torres

María Consuelo is the lead partner of Merger & Acquisition service, from the tax Area in Colombia. She joined KPMG in 1998 and has more than 26 years of experience in providing tax services to large multinational companies. Her background encompasses domestic and international corporate tax, planning and indirect tax. Professional and Industry Experience María Consuelo has participated in largest transactions that have occurred in Colombia, including the acquisition of Exxon Mobil´s lubricant operating unit by Copec and the potential acquisition of ISAGEN. She has led multiple tax due diligence projects in sectors such as energy, mining, industrial, educational, communications, pharmaceutical, security, insurance and tobacco. Her experience has strength in tax advisory, tax audit, tax planning, attention to requirements of tax authorities and tax litigation. She is the current lead partner of the GMS practice in Colombia. Among the clients she has assisted in tax compliance and permanent tax advice are: General Motors Colmotores S.A, Grupo Kimberly Colpapel, Chivor S.A, Oleoducto Central S.A, Oleoducto de Colombia S.A, Koba Colombia (Tiendas D1), Grupo Linde, Porsche, Empresas Varias de Medellín, Empresa de Acueducto de Bogotá, Loreal Colombia, Amway, Grupo de publicidad WPP (JW Thompson, Joan & Rubicam, Rep Grey, Worlwide Ogilvy), Grupo Sk Berge (Volvo- Chrysler), Macro, Avon, Fujitsu, Griffith, Easy Colombia. Before joining KPMG, Maria Consuelo worked for six years at the National Tax Authority and acted on behalf of the Nation before the Cundinamarca Administrative Court and the Supreme Administrative Court in regard to tax dossiers.
