Leader, KPMG Green & Social Bonds global network
KPMG in India
“The green bond market is growing exponentially and has huge potential to unlock private capital to finance the global low-carbon transition. I’m proud that KPMG is at the forefront of helping clients to benefit from the powerful capital raising potential of these bonds,” says Manpreet.
Manpreet is an expert in environmental finance and has spent much of his career helping KPMG clients to assess the viability of climate-related projects and access funding for these.
More recently, Manpreet has developed in-depth experience in guiding clients through the process of issuing green and social bonds to fund projects including clean power, low-carbon transport, affordable housing and energy efficient buildings.
He is highly experienced in advising clients on issues such as defining what makes a bond ‘green’, designing a robust green bond framework, and managing and reporting on bond proceeds. He is well connected with key organizations in the space, including the Climate Bonds Initiative, the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), as well as financial institutions such as Yes Bank which issued the first green bond in India.
Outside work, Manpreet is a member of the UNDP Roster of Experts for climate change mitigation. In this role he advises on the implementation of large-scale greenhouse gas reduction programs in developing countries. He also teaches classes on environmental finance and sustainability at leading Indian institutions such as the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and the Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB).
