Christiane Meyer

Associate Director, Human Rights & Social Impact Services Lead

KPMG Nederland

Christiane is a senior human rights and social impact strategy professional with 10+ years of experience across Europe, Asia-Pacific and the US. Christiane is the Europe Lead for KPMG’s Global Human Rights Network, and advises clients across food and beverage, retail, financial services, technology, FMCG and the extractives industries.

As a Sociologist and Ethicist, Christiane is passionate about helping companies figure out how to do ‘the right thing’ – that is to minimise harm to people and leverage opportunities to make a positive impact on people’s lives. “Today, companies often operate in extremely complex and challenging environments with conflicting priorities. It’s not always obvious what ‘the right thing to do’ is, let alone how to do it. That’s where it gets interesting for me – systematically working through where you want to get to, and how to build a culture and enabling environment that people follow that vision.”

Christiane’s particular areas of expertise span both the social and governance dimensions of responsible business conduct. She brings deep subject knowledge and experience in risk and impact assessment; risk management system design; policy development; strategy design; internal audit; supplier/third party monitoring; public disclosure; capacity building and change management.

When Christiane is not at work, she enjoys travelling and immersing herself in different cultures. She has lived across three different continents and after over a decade in Asia-Pacific and most recently, Hong Kong, she has relocated to Europe in 2020 with Amsterdam as her base.
