Hieu Nguyen brings nearly 20 years of experience working with both public and private sector

Prior to KPMG Vietnam, Hieu has intensive experience in working with World Bank (WB), World Economic Forum (WEF), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment (MONRE), Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), and Ministry of Plan and Investment (MPI) in several economic, environmental and social sustainable development programs.

• MOIT: Acted as Market Analysis Senior Officer of Trade Promotion Agency of MoT, in charge of strategic counsel and planning, led and implemented stakeholders' capacity building and promotional trade activities supporting business and strengthening the promotion of trade policies in Vietnam from 2002 to 2005
• WB and MPI: Under WB’s sponsor and management and in collaboration with MPI, acted as coordinator for the Sustainable Social Economic Development Program (S-SEDP) from 2005 to 2009 to design and link business to markets in terms of Government framework; leveraged public and private investment and involved innovative financing and research on critical issues under S-SEDP; and advised both public and private sector on project design, emerging good practices and key trends in a sustainable way with a focus on market-orientation and multi-stakeholder partnerships
• Netherland Embassy: Acted as a market facilitator to support both Vietnamese and Netherland businesses under the Netherland Embassy’s framework in Viet Nam; supported Vietnamese business sustainable practices regarding adapted to EU regulations for exporting such as MLR requirement and low carbon productions
• WEF: Acted as an official member of the Transformation Leaders Network of World Economic Forum (WEF), involved in the development of the New Vision for Agriculture which is applied widely in the world; supported MARD and MONRE to implement the initiatives of Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture in Viet Nam from 2016 – 2021; specifically, provided technical supports on Public-Private Partnership models which focusing on carbon emission reduction, carbon credits, and carbon standards adaptation; involved to support leading businesses in Viet Nam to achieve agri-sustainability standards for exporting as well as dealing with importers to solve issues regarding environment and sustainability
• ESG strategy, management, and implementation: Led ESG improvement consulting services for 3 leading paper mills in Vietnam, led ESG strategy, roadmap, and training project for one of the largest-scale real estate corporations in Vietnam
• ESG due diligence and compliance audit: Lead ESDD projects in connection with the contemplated acquisition of solar power plants and paper mills in Vietnam.
• ESG training and marketing activities: Acted as lead trainer for awareness training on ESG risks in supply chain, chemical management, and agribusiness for one of the biggest fertilizer corporations in Vietnam, led a project on co-authoring a Green Bank Handbook with the State Bank of Vietnam to widely enhance the green performance of investments among the banking systems and financial institutions in Vietnam
