The Special Situations Group (“SSG”) provides performance improvement solutions when it really matters. We help our clients to improve cash flow, profitability and the balance sheet or visibility into these areas in situations of growth, underperformance, stress, distress and deals.


We support our clients across a range of services including:

We deliver business performance improvement through data-driven insights. We combine proprietary methodology and data analytics to uncover opportunities from client data and partner with our clients to implement the initiatives together.


SSG is part of KPMG’s Complex Transactions Group (“CTG”) which provide another service line of Project Management Office (“PMO”).  For PMO, we manage complex and often cross-border merger & acquisition projects which require the involvement of multi-disciplined KPMG teams or different teams in various jurisdictions. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to involve in these services as well.


For further information on SSG: 



• Assist Managers and above in delivering rapid performance improvement and restructuring projects for our clients across sectors and channels. 

• Assist Managers and above in managing complex projects which require the involvement of a number of work streams across KPMG.

• Use data analytics and financial analysis to identify financial opportunities in client data to improve profit and cash performance.

• Find innovative ways to visualize data and deliver insights to our clients.

• Prepare and deliver presentations across projects and client deliverables.

• Assist Managers and above in preparation of proposals and business development materials.

• Cooperate with other KPMG teams to ensure the deadline and commitment of projects.

• Oversee and guide junior staff in researching industry information.

• Provide timely feedback and coaching to other team members and contribute to a collaborative and innovative team culture.

• Other tasks required by the performance manager (including managing and running internal projects of KPMG, if required).


Experience & Background 

• Bachelor degree or higher in relevant subjects, e.g. business, accounting, finance, economics, law, investments, data science etc.

• Three to five years' relevant experience of working with clients and strong in project management.  Experience in deal/investment transactions is a plus.

• Demonstrate an analytical mindset, structured thinking and creativity.

• Demonstrate confidence, people skills and a collaborative attitude.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with “can-do” mindset with fast learning ability.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Vietnamese, fluency in other language (Japanese, Korean, Chinese) is a plus.

• Proficient at MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, experience with analytical tools such as Alteryx, Python, PowerBI, Tableau or Qlik Sense is a plus.

• Ability to travel (within Vietnam and Cambodia) as required.
