A final rule amending ITAR to better organize the purposes and definitions of regulations

The U.S. Department of State today released for publication in the Federal Register a final rule amending the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to better organize the purposes and definitions of the regulations.

The Department published on March 23, 2022, an interim final rule amending the ITAR, effective September 6, 2022, and stated that it would accept comments until 45 days after March 23, 2022. Read TaxNewsFlash

After reviewing the comments received in response to that interim final rule, the Department is now responding to public comments and finalizing the interim final rule, effective September 6, 2022.

The final rule [PDF 272 KB] (12 pages) makes minor corrections to the text that appeared in the interim final rule, adds text not previously found in the ITAR, and makes clarifying revisions to existing text.
