The guidance states that a “SIN” is not required to be reported for reportable accounts that are held before 1 January 2021 if not included in the records of the reporting Swiss financial institutions. However, reporting Swiss financial institutions are obliged to make reasonable efforts to obtain the SIN by the end of the second calendar year following the year that the accounts were identified as reportable accounts.

The federal tax administration also issued an updated version of AEOI “questions and answers.”
