The Union Tax Law generally does not introduce any significant changes to the income tax measures. However, because of current economic uncertainty during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the government could propose to amend the tax rates before the next Union Tax Law is announced.

The tax measures in the Union Tax Law 2020 include:

  • New income tax rates in relation to income that has escaped assessment
  • Changes in the “special goods tax” rates for certain special goods (including cigarettes, cheroot, alcohol, and wine)
  • Changes to the list of goods and services that are exempt from commercial tax
