The Russian Federation’s tax authority in September 2020 released a brochure on the automatic exchange of financial information (AEOI)—guidance that generally appears to be in line with the OECD standard for AEOI.

Specifically, the Russian guidance outlines responsibilities that financial organizations must take on behalf of their clients.

The Russian tax authority also expanded the list of financial organizations to include insurers that conduct certain insurance activities (apart from voluntary life insurance activities and reinsurance organizations).
