An emergency ordinance (GEO No. 132/20) published in the official journal on 10 August 2020 introduces employment relief measures in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The relief measures, in part, allow employers that have experienced a temporary reduction in their business activity because of the pandemic and related emergency declarations to reduce the working hours of their employees by up to 50% of the standard set out in an employment contract. Other measures allow for a one-off payment for the purchase of technology goods and services by employees who are teleworking if they telework for at least 15 business days during the state of emergency.
