Belgium: Corporate tax return deadline extended to 29 October 2020 (COVID-19)
Belgium: Corporate tax return deadline extended
The Minister of Finance granted an extension of the due date for filing the corporate tax return to 29 October 2020 (from 24 September 2020). The extension of time was provided because “Biztax”—the platform of the tax authorities for filing the corporate tax return—required certain technical changes in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The extended due date also applies to the tax returns of legal entities and non-resident corporations. Tax returns to be filed between 24 September and 29 October 2020 can also benefit from the extension.
Tax returns that result in a tax refund and that are filed no later than 1 October 2020 will receive priority treatment in order to support the liquidity and solvability of those taxpayers. The loss carryback measure has been introduced with the same purpose (to support liquidity). Taxpayers that intend to apply the loss carryback need to file their tax return before 1 October 2020 for a faster refund.
