Cambodia: “Seniority payments” postponed (COVID-19)

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training issued guidance (Notification No. 018/20 dated 2 June 2020) announcing that back “seniority payments” to be made by certain sectors for before 2019 and for new seniority payment for 2020 are postponed until 2021.

The guidance is intended to provide relief for the private sector and workers and employees that have been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The guidance provides notice to owners or directors of factories and enterprises and to workers and employees providing work under the “undetermined duration contracts” method, that the payment of back pay for seniority payments before 2019 (for the textile, garment, and footwear sector) and the new seniority payment in the year 2020 (for all sectors) are postponed until 2021.
