Vietnam: Tax relief measures (COVID-19)

The Ministry of Finance issued guidance to provide tax relief in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

  • The deadline for paying value added tax (VAT), individual income tax, and land rental for taxpayers that are identified as being part of “vulnerable” groups with regard to COVID-19 would be extended.
  • Measures would increase the cap on deductible interest expenses.
  • Measures would extend the deadline for implementation of mandatory electronic invoicing rules (e-invoicing).
  • The social insurance authority is considering suspending social insurance contributions for a number of businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
