No paper versions of Form 1023 applications accepted

The IRS today issued a reminder that effective April 30, 2020, paper versions of Form 1023 will no longer be accepted.

As noted in an IRS transmittal message, organizations have been required to submit Form 1023, Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, electronically via an online process.

The IRS provided a 90-day transition period during which time applicants could continue to submit paper Form 1023 applications. That transition period expires April 30, 2020. Read TaxNewsFlash

The IRS therefore will not accept paper Form 1023 applications postmarked after April 30, 2020.
