Dominican Republic: Labor assistance fund (COVID-19)

The Dominican Ministry of Finance introduced a program, a labor assistance fund (referred to by the Spanish acronym “FASE”) that aims to provide job security in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Aspects concerning the FASE program provide that:

  • FASE will provide one-time direct economic assistance with respect for employees working in companies that have experienced certain reduction in operations.
  • Companies are eligible for the assistance if they have suspended workers, need to withdraw the employment suspensions requests. Certain companies are not eligible.
  • Companies need to make an application via the Ministry of Finance’s website.
  • The FASE program was effective 2 April 2020 for a period of 60 days.
