Work permit penalty relief

Foreign individuals who failed to renew their work permits by 31 March 2020 will have the penalties waived because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Generally, all foreign employees who are working in Cambodia must renew their work permits no later than 31 March of each year. The deadline for the renewal of work permits for foreign employees for 2020 was on 31 March 2020, and a failure to renew the work permits by the deadline will be subject to penalties.

However, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training issued Instruction No. 044/20 (8 April 2020) to provide relief from penalties for those foreign employees who already obtained or hold their work permits for the year 2019 until further notice.
