OECD: Status report, automatic exchange of information

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) reported following the Global Forum’s 10th anniversary meeting in Paris in late November 2019 that:

  • In 2018, approximately 100 jurisdictions automatically exchanged information on 47 million financial accounts, covering total assets having a value of approximately U.S. $4.9 trillion.
  • More than €100 billion of additional tax revenue has been identified since 2009.
  • Commencement of the automatic exchange of information (AEOI) in 2017 and 2018 resulted in a 22% reduction in International Financial Centers’ bank deposits owned by non-International Financial Centers residents.

Lastly, the OECD launched the “2019 AEOI Implementation Report” that provides a summary of the situation of AEOI implementation as of 24 November 2019.
