Among the measures in a tax modernization bill is a proposal to impose value added tax (VAT) on digital services.

This VAT proposal is not affected by an agreement reached by Chile’s government and the main opposition parties on principles for tax measures that would raise tax revenues in response to anti-government demonstrations and strikes affecting Chile for the past three weeks.
