Italy: Amendments to FATCA, CRS rules and deadlines

A decree issued by the Finance Ministry, and published in the official gazette, amends the FATCA and common reporting standard (CRS) implementing rules.

The decree:

  • Extends the reporting deadline to 30 June for filing FATCA and CRS reports for all years (previous due date had been 30 April)
  • Explains that the CRS implementation handbook and CRS commentary are officially considered to be guides for the communication of information on financial accounts and the interpretation of CRS rules
  • States that Italian financial institutions must provide information for reportable jurisdictions as of 15 May for each year
