Hurricane-related tax relief, locations in Virginia

The IRS today added more counties and cities to the list of locations in Virginia where taxpayers affected by Hurricane Florence may be eligible for tax relief. In general, the tax relief includes more time to file returns, pay taxes, and perform certain other time-sensitive acts for taxpayers in the listed counties and cities that were affected by Hurricane Florence.

The IRS release—VA-2018-02 (updated November 19, 2018)—announces tax relief for eligible taxpayers affected by Hurricane Florence in:

  • The counties of Botetourt, Charles City, Chesterfield, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Grayson, Halifax, Henry, Isle of Wight, King and Queen, King William, Lancaster, Lunenburg, Mathews, Mecklenburg, Nelson, Northumberland, Nottoway, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Russell, and Roanoke
  • The independent cities of Bristol, Danville, Franklin, Hampton, Martinsville, Newport News, Richmond, and Williamsburg
