Request for comments; hearing on NAFTA

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) today released for publication in the Federal Register a notice requesting comments and announcing a June 2017 public hearing on negotiation objectives regarding modernization of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with Canada and Mexico.

Today’s USTR notice [PDF 213 KB] indicates a list of areas for possible trade negotiations, and the USTR is seeking comments on matters relevant to the modernization of NAFTA in order to inform development of U.S. negotiation positions.

In order to testify at the hearing, written notification and a summary of testimony must be received by Monday, June 12, 2017. Written comments are also due by Monday, June 12, 2017. The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 27, 2017.
