Rob Barrett

Rob is a Principal in KPMG’s Operations Advisory practice with more than 19 years experience leading supply chain, operations, process improvement, and technology enabled projects. He has an extensive background in supply chain management and has significant experience leading more than 20 global supply chain transformation efforts with companies such as Ford, Mattel, Dana, IBM, Dell, Cisco, Boeing, Vodafone, Motorola, Seagate, Hitachi, Raytheon, and Solectron. As part of the national supply chain leadership team, Rob leads the firm’s thought leadership on demand driven supply chain models and strategies.

Professional and industry experience

Rob has significant experience leading supply chain transformation programs with a focus on improving the way companies manage multi-party processes. His most recent efforts have centered in helping companies implement demand driven supply chain strategies to improve supply continuity and reduce inventory and operating expenses leveraging different demand planning, POS replenishment, vendor managed inventory, and procurement models. He has served as engagement partner, engagement manager, project manager, and solution architect.

Supply Chain Transformation

  • Managed the global design for a demand driven supply chain transformation for a leading toy manufacturer. This included the design of their demand planning, supply planning, and S&OP processes, design of a global KPI hierarchy, design of the supporting IT architecture, and assisting the client in the selection of planning and supply chain visibility solutions.
  • Engagement lead that designed the supply chain processes and delivered the enabling technology to manage the planning, procurement, and replenishment processes across multiple tiers of global manufacturing partners for one of the world’s largest commercial aircraft manufacturers.
  • Managed a demand driven supply chain transformation for a consumer electronics company. The project involved the deployment of an enterprise supply chain visibility platform, automated replenishment model, and collaborative planning process, allowing the company to double inventory turns and improve order replenishment cycle times by 50%.
  • Delivered a global demand and spend consolidation solution as part of a $1B global cost saving effort to integrate 50+ group companies in to one operating company. Solution consolidated global operations enabling a $100M+ reduction in operating expense, 30% reduction in inventory while improving customer service levels with 70% drop in stock outs.
  • Engagement lead for a global supply chain transformation program to improve operating margins through a set of collaborative planning and inventory replenishment processes spanning 85% of direct procurement expenditures, 50+ facilities, and 10,000+ suppliers for a $200B electronics company.
  • Delivered a platform to fully automate the buy-sell procurement process between an electronics OEM, their international procurement center (IPC), the tier one contract manufacturers, and key component suppliers. Project resulted in tax and PPV advantages in excess of $250M.
  • Served as the overall Program Director for the planning phase of a global ERP Deployment for a $5B high tech hardware and software networking company. Established the PMO, defined the enterprise target operating model, and defined the roll-out plan, budget, and resource model for the global design and deployment phases.
