UK Mid-market Private Equity Deal Analysis 2019

During 2019, UK Private Equity deal volume fell to its lowest level in five years, as heightened economic and geopolitical uncertainty gripped the market. All UK PE deal volumes were down by 19 percent to 978 deals. Whilst deal values fell by 18.9 percent, PE multiples also fell from 13.2x earnings to 11x earnings.

Key findings – UK Mid-market Private Equity review 2019:

  • Mid-market PE also saw a drop in volumes of 14.6% to 532 deals
  • Deal values reached a 5 year high at a total of £39.9bn
  • Public to private transactions are on the rise, which looks set to continue
  •  Mid-market exits waned
