KPMG announces executive board appointments

KPMG in the UK has announced new appointments to its executive board and the creation of a new UK Advisory Council.

Mary O’Connor has been appointed as Head of Clients and Markets and will be responsible for driving growth and performance across KPMG’s non-audit business. Mary replaces Scott Parker who will take on a new role as Head of Transformational Growth and EMA Head of Markets.  Scott will drive stronger links in the global network and lead KPMG’s major sales programmes across EMA.

John Bennett succeeds Mary in the role of Chief Risk Officer. John was previously Chief Operating Officer for the firm’s audit practice and has played a leading role in devising the firm’s plans to deliver operational separation.

KPMG has appointed Kevin Hogarth as its Chief People Officer.  Kevin joins KPMG from Norton Rose Fulbright, where he held the role of Global Director of People and Culture. He brings with him over 30 years’ HR experience, predominately in professional and financial services. Kevin succeeds Anna Purchas, who will take on the role of London Office Senior Partner and lead the firm’s largest office.

Rachel Hopcroft, Head of Corporate Affairs, also joins the firm’s executive board. Rachel has led the firm’s Corporate Affairs function since 2017. Rachel joined KPMG from the Civil Service where she worked for 13 years.  

In addition, the firm has also announced its intention to create a new UK Advisory Council. The Council will be made up of senior external advisors recruited from a range of fields and backgrounds, together with KPMG UK’s Vice Chairs and representatives of the firm’s senior leadership. The Council will offer insights and external perspectives to the executive board and UK board.

Our new leadership and their teams will work closely to support our clients as they pivot their businesses and adapt to the new environment.”

The executive board appointments take effect from 1 October. Kevin Hogarth will join the firm on 1 November.
