Commenting on the Chancellor’s announcement today that a new national retraining scheme is to be launched in partnership with CBI and TUC, Anna Purchas, Head of People at KPMG in the UK said:

“Investment in learning and development throughout the UK will provide a much needed boost to Britain’s workforce, allowing individuals to be adaptable in a climate of rapid change. For those returning to paid employment after an extended period away, for example those that have been absent due to parental leave, this will be an incredibly important part of their re-integration back in to business.

“Technology is now, more than ever, an increasing part of most occupations in the UK and business leaders must recognise the need for continuous development in order to remain competitive. Strategic investment in this area is a motivating factor for staff, and one of the key aspects attracting future talent, so, for UK business, improving this provision is a priority.”
