Our latest report looking into the performance, financing and valuation of UK Fintech start-ups.
For the second year, KPMG’s Fintech practice and Google Cloud have collaborated to bring insight into the performance of the UK fintech industry. It is thriving and is a £49bn asset for the UK economy, but the industry is still very much work in progress with the path to profitability, scaling for growth and subsequent investment providing challenges for the majority of the market.
This report follows on from the UK Fintech Focus report we published a year ago, which aimed to provide a better understanding of some of the dynamics of performance, financing and valuation of the UK Fintech start-ups. This year we have expanded the research to include 100 companies with a broad representation across the main Fintech verticals, covering both financial services businesses and technology/processing businesses.
In the past 12 months, the sector has continued to thrive. Continuing the momentum, several large funding rounds were announced by our sample of companies in the first quarter in 2020. Although progress across the sector, like many others has now been halted by the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
