Competition authorities have become increasingly interested in how to approach dynamic markets. In this article we consider three recent vertical mergers involving dynamic markets, each of which was abandoned or prohibited following a Phase II investigation by the CMA.

We consider the CMA's competitive assessment, and its analysis of efficiencies and potential remedies. We argue that the dynamic nature of the relevant markets contributed to the failure of each case to clear Phase II.
