“Automation must be a lever for any organisation looking to transform how their organisation is run.”

In our latest video on the new reality, Natalie Semmes, Head of Intelligent Automation, discusses the importance of automation within businesses.

Automation technologies are maturing, and are more easily accessible and usable - even by those without technology skills. But few organisations believe they’ve scaled and industrialised the use of automation. Natalie suggests there are four key reasons for this:

  • Garbage in, garbage out. Without the right data that you can trust, automation cannot drive value.
  • Not thinking like a customer. To deliver the full value, organisations need to take a customer-centric approach to transformation and reinvent customer experience and business processes.
  • Lack of digital mindset. Every person in your transformation needs to learn and embrace a digital mindset; it needs to become second nature. We’ve developed an automation navigator to help take a business issue and understand where automation can provide value.
  • Not having the right digital operating model. There needs to be a process owner, data owner and digital champion in every function, working with a digital centre of excellence across data, automation and analytics.
