The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, will present the UK Budget on 11 March 2020. With the new Chancellor pushing ahead with the original timetable, but the global environment looking very uncertain, it is possible that many of the difficult decisions may be deferred. However, given that this is the first Budget of the new Government, there will be pressure to deliver on key election promises such as reform of Entrepreneurs’ relief and increases to the research and development (R&D) tax credit rate and the structures and buildings allowance. The Budget will then be followed by publication of the 2020 Finance Bill on 19 March. Read on for details of how to read our commentary on the Budget and sign up for our webinar.
Our dedicated Budget 2020 webpage will be updated on 11 March after the Chancellor finishes his speech. Commentary will be added over the course of the afternoon and evening, including overviews for different taxpayers and more detailed analysis on the key measures. You can also follow KPMG UK on LinkedIn for more immediate comment.
On Thursday 12 March, we will be running a webinar to discuss the impact of the measures on international and domestic businesses, employers and individuals. Please register for the webinar here.
