Digitalisation of the economy is both changing the way businesses operate and the tax landscape. New tax requirements (both indirect and direct) seek to ensure that tax is collected at the point of consumption, but the changes can be a challenge to keep track of given the rapid pace of change and the varying approaches being adopted globally by individual countries.

While the fast pace and volume of changes started off with indirect taxes, we have now seen similar movement with direct taxes (such as the unilateral Digital Services Taxes).  There are also ongoing discussions in relation to potential multilateral reform driven by the OECD. KPMG have therefore developed the Digital Economy Tax Tracker mobile App to help businesses navigate this ever-evolving landscape.

The mobile App, available for free download on the App Store and Google Play (or search for: ‘Digital Economy Tax Tracker’) features:

  • Bitesize daily news updates;
  • Jurisdiction-specific summary information on direct and indirect taxes; and
  • More detailed thought leadership publications on tax issues pertaining to the digitalisation of the economy.
