Despite expectations on how artificial intelligence (AI) will affect the future of work, only 42 percent of technology industry executives plan to upskill the majority of their workforce during the next three years, according to the latest KPMG report “The future of HR in the technology sector.”
The findings contrast to a 2018 World Economic Forum report indicating that by 2022 at least 54 percent of employees in all industries will require significant re- and upskilling due to AI and other automation technologies to meet future workforce needs.
This workforce transformation represents an opportunity for Human Resources (HR) leaders to deliver solutions that drive competitive advantages within the organisation. Since HR is integrated with every functional group, HR leaders have a holistic view of the organisation and are positioned to lead the conversation on workplace evolution and transformation.Those who inspire action over internal obstacles can elevate themselves to be a strategic advisor and business partner.
