Autonomous vehicles (AV) are set to revolutionise the way people live and work globally. The social benefits of AV adoption will be enormous – reducing road deaths, improving accessibility and driving economic growth. But are countries ready for an AV-driven future?
KPMG’s 2019 Autonomous Vehicles Readiness Index provides an in-depth view of what it takes for countries to meet the challenges of self-driving vehicles, evaluating the preparedness of 25 countries. It also looks at some of the major milestones in AV development since we published our 2018 report.
The UK remains among the world’s most advanced AV markets, ranking 7th globally, scoring particularly highly on policy and legislation. Nevertheless, it needs to continue proactive efforts to address issues around infrastructure and consumer acceptance.
