Energy transition: The shareholder perspective

Addressing shareholders about the energy transition

There are certainly opportunities for oil and gas companies to be very successful with the move to a low carbon economy, but there are also risks and challenges which shareholders will view individually. Many investors are already looking to energy companies for their climate change risks and how that will impact on share prices.

Andy Cox, Partner and Chair of Energy and Natural Resources, spoke with Dev Sanyal, Chief Executive, Alternative Energy and Executive Vice President, Regions at BP, about the low carbon transition and investors. Particularly the growing importance from investors to understand how companies are positioning themselves in the move to a low carbon economy.

Beth Mitchell, independent specialist advisor to the oil and gas industry, addressed the considerations for shareholders in Chapter 3.

In the video below, Emma Wild, Partner and Head of Upstream Oil and Gas at KPMG in the UK discusses with Beth Mitchell how many shareholders want the companies they invest in to be part of the solution in the energy transition.
